Leaving no one behind.
Supporting education and innovation.
A commercial enterprise, The Image Foundry (https://www.theimagefoundry.org/) is rolling out a comprehensive Visual Arts training facility in Kilifi, Kenya.
This facility, Kilifi Visual Arts (KVA) will provide photography, videography, Drone technology, post production editing, and graphic design & AI curricula, as well as entrepreneurship workshops from beginner level up to professional training.
Additionally, students enrolled will be given the opportunity to engage in work-study programmes to gain practical on the job training as well as earn an income while doing so.
This facility will be firmly rooted in a significant number of UN SDGs as well as follow Blue Economy principles.
Practical and Impactful Learning
Practical learning is the best way of learning because it synchronizes thought and action, and produces the best result as an output of efforts.
Our curriculums intentionally transform learning from textual and theoretical to practical and conceptual.
Our Facility
In designing our visual arts training programmes, we realized we needed to address the totality of the individual we were targeting. We saw that not only did we need to meet educational needs and promote professional upskilling, we had to carve out an environment that would be aspirational to those that walked through our doors - and the UN SDGs drove what we need to consider to do just that.. We also realized that to be successful, the facility has to endear itself to the community it would plant its root in and become a contributing entity to the overall success of the community.
Lastly we knew we needed the facility to be fully sustainable and carbon negative in order to demonstrate responsible citizenship to our students and the community that is already feeling the effects of climate change.
Our Community
At KVA we believe we are an extension of the community we will be establishing ourselves in.
We thrive because of our communities. We have businesses because it is supported by people that live and work within a community.
We have purposefully designed the Facility’s to invest in the local community, knowing it will be our consumer base and filled with supporters of our vision!
“The short workshop you conducted was exceptional and greatly appreciated by all the participants. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the interactive session through the gallery walk and found it immensely valuable in enhancing their understanding of the intersection of photography with the UN sustainable development goals.”
